What do you think the videos on the right (they may not show up in the mobile version of Blogger) have to do with the novel?

  1. I think the videos on the right might relate to the era that the novel was written in and takes place in.

  2. I think the video, especially the Roaring twenties is important to the novel because The Great Gatsby is set in that time frame and has a great impact on how the book was written, viewed and imagined by readers.

  3. I think the videos are to educate people about the time period in which the book takes place, the second video looks like a large event happening during the story.

The videos on the right tell a story. Judging on the fact that the first video shows an old video of people dancing while the second video talks about the prohibition. Logic dictates that the book takes place around the 30s. Without ever reading or hearing about anything on the book I would guess this book would be about someone who runs a speakeasy and sells alcohol since speakeasies were known for dancing and illegal selling of alcohol during the prohibition.

  5. I think the videos to the right will offer more historical context to the Great Gatsby. Mostly to understand the political climate of that time or crises that may be taking place. Also the culture of that time and how it’s integral to the book based on when it was written.

  6. I believe its historical context. Gatsby is set during the 1920s right in the middle of The Roaring 20s and Prohibition in the United States. It may provide context into how it was during that time period to better understand the characters.
